History Grandhotel Römerbad

For over 185 years at the Grandhotel Römerbad we have attached great importance to high culture, top quality service and guest satisfaction. The hotel, rich in tradition, receives its guests with delightful charm and allows them to forget about the stress and strain of their everyday lives. "We will also cherish the history of our hotel in the future, and bring it into the future thanks to modern aspects. To this end we have developed a new catering concept for all the inhabitants of the region and this year we will revive the tradition of classical music concerts, for which our hotel used to be famous!" says Vladimir Saal, the President.

The Grandhotel Römerbad, with its mansard roofs, towers, balconies and a beautifully adorned facade, is a magnificent four-wing building. The courtyard, which was crowned with a magnificent dome in 1880, is the center of the entire complex. Today's courtyard hall leads to 75 rooms,  suites and other spacious hotel premises.

Not only did the Grandhotel Römerbad have a bright past, but it remains a historically and artistically significant cultural monument today.

The chef and his crew know the inns and outs of their profession and go to great lengths to create amazing Baden, Mediterranean and around-the-world dishes. The guests also appreciate the classic pleasures of the house, such as reading a newspaper on one of the two spacious terraces. When evening comes and the gallant bartender of the renowned “Caesar" bar conjures up colorful fireworks in cocktail glasses, the Grandhotel Römerbad starts teeming with life.

The Bellevue terrace offers a superb view of the Rhine Lowlands and the French Vosges. It’s a perfect place for watching beautiful sunsets. The same holds true for the outdoor premises of the hotel with a thermal pool, where the hotel guests can experience the charm typical of southern countries.

The Grandhotel Römerbad is located in Markgräflerland in the southern part of the Black Forest mountain range. It is a wonderful holiday destination at the confluence of three countries in the cultural area of the Upper Rhine and the metropolitan area of Freiburg, Basel and Mulhouse/Colmar. By car, you can easily access 12 beautiful golf courses, which can also be used in wintertime due to the mild climate of the region. The hotel guests are offered Discount Green Fees.

Since September 2009, the Grandhotel Römerbad has been operated by IBB Hotels, a hotel group which owns 6 separate houses in Badenweiler, Erfurt, Passau, Lublin, Poznań and on Menorca. The German head office headed by Vladimir Saal is located at the Grandhotel Römerbad in Badenweiler. In the spring of 2012 the group’s seventh house – the luxurious Boutique Resort Gran Cugo, will be opened on Menorca.
